Book Review: "Waves of Fortune: Emotions" by Dr. Sujata Chatterjee is a collection of 28 poems reflecting the emotions which play time and again in the poet's soul culminating in an array of wide beliefs. She has felt the flow of the universe and the call of nature in her pen, writing on topics which manifest the same. The poetry in this collection is appreciable for its meaning, rhyme, and rhythm. It is a piece of work quite mature in its endeavor as is expected from a poet of her stature after writing and co-authoring many previous books.

The poetry book begins with a warm inviting Acknowledgement and Preface which ensures the reader gets comfortable before embarking on a journey of emotions. 'Let Go' and 'Little Things Matter' are brilliant pieces for an opening as the waves turn towards a more subtle direction towards a journey which the poet experienced in her formative years. There are many poems. Poems on love, responsibility, gratefulness, thankfulness - overall, the sense of being alive and feeling your presence in this world. 'I am a Doctor' brings out the poetess present in the mainstream life of the poet while 'Photographically Yours' forces one to sneak peek as a flashback into the past of the poet. It is a wonderfully crafted book which helps readers appreciate a lot of unknown specimens in free thinking. We see time and again an invitation in all the poems to appreciate what was, what is and what will be - emotions rising and falling like waves in the sea!

This poetry collection will appeal to poetry lovers and new readers alike since the flow and syllable is lucid enough to delve deeper into understanding. It helps us to see the bright side of life almost rejuvenating our soul. A short light read which can be taken anywhere while alone or traveling, the poems are indeed sparkling with anticipation of good fortune.
